James M. O'Connell, LPC

James O'Connell, LPC has been licensed as a professional counselor in the state of Ohio since 1987. His areas of professional focus include forensic assessments designed to assess risk for violence, risk for sexual offending, risk for recidivism, and level of treatment required. Mr. O'Connell is certified as a Sex Offender Treatment Specialist in the state of Ohio. In addition to his work with the various juvenile courts, he has served on committees with the Ohio Supreme Court to address juvenile competency to stand trial and has worked with various juvenile courts on this issue, including competency attainment services. Additionally, Mr. O'Connell has worked for over 25 years in the area of public safety personnel selection (police, fire and dispatch), including conducting assessment centers for entry-level personnel up to department chief. He is experienced with post-shooting debriefing and has provided that service to institutions such as McDonald's, Hill's department store, Coney Island, Inc., as well as various banks and police departments. Further, Mr. O'Connell provides therapeutic services for clients with a variety of mental health diagnoses utilizing cognitive-behavioral and solution-focused interventions.
